Help & Getting Started

Everything you need to get your pantry set up and running.

Getting started

  1. Create your account. Sign up with your email on the iOS app or at mycloudpantry.app — your pantry syncs across both.
  2. Name your home. Give your first home a name and icon. You can add more homes later.
  3. Add your items. Three ways: tap + Add Item to enter one by hand; tap Scan to scan a barcode or photograph an item; or, on the web app, use Import to paste a whole list at once. Each item can have a storage location, a quantity, an “alert below” threshold, and an expiry date.
  4. Watch your shopping list build. When an item drops to or below its threshold, it's added to your Shopping List automatically.
  5. Shop by store. Open the Shopping List, filter to the store you're at, and check items off. Marking them purchased restocks your inventory.
  6. Share with your household. In Settings → Household Members, invite others by link or QR code. They join as a Member or Admin and see the same pantry.
  7. Add more homes. In Settings → Your Houses, add another home and switch between them anytime.

Frequently asked questions

Platforms & data

What platforms is Cloud Pantry on?

An iOS app (on the App Store) and a web app at mycloudpantry.app. Your data syncs across both.

Where is my data stored?

Securely in the cloud, synced across your devices and everyone in your household.

Can I clear or delete my data?

Yes — Settings → Danger Zone → Clear data removes the items and shopping-list rows for a home, and account deletion is available too.

Inventory & expiry

How do low-stock alerts work?

Each item has an “alert below” threshold. When the quantity drops to or below it, the item is flagged Low (or Out at zero) and added to your shopping list.

Can I track expiry dates?

Yes. Add an expiry date and Cloud Pantry shows expiring and expired status, and includes those items in your reminders.

Can I organize by where things are stored?

Yes — give each item a location like Pantry, Fridge, or Freezer, or create your own.

Shopping list

How does the automatic list work?

Items at or below their threshold are added for you; you can also add items manually.

Why is my list grouped by store?

Each item can have a “buy at” store, and the list groups by store so you can shop one place at a time. Items with no store appear under “Other.”

What does restocking do?

Checking items and marking them purchased updates your inventory quantities and clears them from the list.

Adding items

Barcode or photo — what's the difference?

Barcode looks the product up in a free public food database; photo uses AI to identify the item and fill in the details. You can edit anything before saving.

Can I import a list I already have?

Yes, on the web app (mycloudpantry.app): Import → paste one item per line → review → import.

Households

How do I invite someone?

Settings → Household Members → Invite, then share the link or QR code. Invite links expire after 14 days.

What's the difference between Admin and Member?

Admins manage the home (members, locations, and stores); members can manage items and the shopping list.

Can I have more than one home?

Yes — add homes in Settings → Your Houses and switch anytime.

Reminders

Will I get reminders?

Cloud Pantry emails you expiry reminders as items approach their date, plus a weekly digest of what's expiring, low, or empty.
