Cloud Pantry (shown in the app as “Pantry”) is a household grocery inventory and shopping-list app published by Saras Holding (“we,” “us,” “our”). This policy explains what information the app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Cloud Pantry iOS app and the web app at mycloudpantry.app.
We collect only what the app needs to work. We do not use advertising or analytics tracking software.
When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password, which are used to sign you in and secure your account. Authentication is handled by Google Firebase Authentication. We never see or store your password in readable form.
The app stores the information you enter so it can sync across your devices and household members, including: household names and icons; the names, initials, and roles of members you add; grocery and pantry items (such as name, quantity, unit, category, storage location, store, and barcode); shopping-list entries; and your store and storage-location lists. If you invite someone to a household, you may also enter their name, and optionally their email address or phone number, so an invitation can be sent.
If you use the photo-scan feature to identify an item, the photo is sent to Google’s Gemini service (through our secure server function) to recognize the product, and the suggested details are returned to you. The photo is processed only to fulfill that single request and is not stored by us.
If you scan or enter a barcode, the barcode number is sent to the Open Food Facts public database to look up product details. No account or personal information is sent with this lookup.
We do not collect your device’s geographic location. (Storage “locations” such as “Pantry” or “Fridge” are labels you type, not your physical whereabouts.) We do not use third-party advertising or analytics software, and we do not build advertising profiles about you.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising or for any third party’s own marketing.
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to operate the app. They process data only to provide their service to us:
| Provider | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions) | Account sign-in, data storage and sync, secure server functions | Email address, account identifier, the content you create |
| Google (Gemini AI) | Identifying grocery items from a scanned photo | The photo you choose to scan (processed transiently, not stored) |
| Open Food Facts | Looking up product details from a barcode | The barcode number only |
| Resend | Sending transactional email (from noreply@mycloudpantry.app) | Recipient email address and message content |
Your data is processed and stored on Google Cloud infrastructure (primarily in the United States). We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or Saras Holding.
We keep your account information and content for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Danger Zone → Delete account). Deleting your account removes your account and the personal data associated with it from our systems. If you are the sole remaining member of a household, that household’s data is removed with your account; where a household has other members, administration may pass to another member so their data remains available to them.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and server-side access rules that restrict household data to its members. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Cloud Pantry is intended for general audiences and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice within the app.
